I was approached by Sandra Webb at the XP Support Group to design a Night-Time garden for her 10 year old son Alex who suffers from the condition. XP is a skin condition that does not allow any
exposure to UV light (sunlight). The garden was also to be used for charity events.
A playhouse and tunnel with non UV
lighting hides behind a large border of
tropical planting.
Three Silver Birch trees hold hammocks
for stargazing and a private reading
area nestles close to the large patio.
From a practical point of view; the existing shed was to be incorporated, a composting area should be resited and easy access would be required for both.

Night Time Garden
This garden was designed to be used after dark. Sublte lighting was used to highlight the feature plants and the water feature. A tunnel/den was incorporated to allow daytime use without exposure to UV light.
